New Journey Frame

Journey

The Journey frame has been through a few refinements and the final production is on the way. This beauty has all the features that you would expect from Eastern Bikes. Zack Roberts, Karl Poynter and Josh Perry have tested it. Josh actually pulled his first 720 tailwhip on the Journey frame. We’re not saying that you’ll be able to do what these guys do but having a frame like this can’t hurt. Below are the features…

  • 4130 Japanese Chromoly
  • 75˚ head tube
  • 71˚ Seat tube
  • Top tube sizes: 20.5", 20.75" and 21.25"
  • 13.75” rear triangle on the 20.5" and 20.75"
  • 14" rear triangle on the 21.25"
  • 11.75" BB height
  • Double butted top tube
  • Lightning Rod Down tube
  • Single Butted Seat tube, ovalized at the BB to increase stiffness
  • Mid BB
  • Integrated seat clamp
  • Head Tube is offset butted.  It is thicker where the top and down tube weld on and thinner in the front
  • Complete heat treatment after welding.

Journey BBJourney BB 2
The BB is 82mm wide verses the standard BB that is 68mm wide. This spreads the bearings out to increase the strength on the spindle and bearings by putting the load closer to the bearing.  The wider BB also allows the stays to be welded further apart to increase the strength and to allow for straighter chain stays and clearance for a 2.3 tire.

Journey Dropout
Dropouts are laser cut and then CNCed both sides.  This reduces the weight and allows for the integrated chain tensioner.
